Newmarket Blue - Silk Tie

A hundred small horses, on steel blue silk.

Tiny white horses at the trot, packed so closely across a mid-blue ground that from a step back the tie reads as a fine houndstooth. Come closer and the check resolves into a herd. It is a quiet joke in the best tradition of equestrian neckwear: a tie that looks entirely proper in a meeting and rewards the person who notices.

Cut in 18 momme silk, a noticeably heavier cloth than most ties on the high street. The extra weight gives the tie body: it knots cleanly, holds a dimple without coaxing and drapes rather than hangs. The surface carries a low lustre that shifts as you move.

The dense, small-scale pattern makes this one of the most versatile ties in the range. It works with white and pale blue shirts, under navy, grey, brown and tweed, and holds its own against a checked shirt where a bolder print would clash.

Available in two widths. Modern at 3 inches for a slimmer, contemporary line. Classic at 3.5 inches for a fuller knot and a more traditional proportion.
